At Tara Vision, LLC ("Company", "we", "us", or "our"), we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the taraengine tool and the engine.tara.vision website (collectively, the "Service").

1. Information We Collect

1.1 taraengine (Open Source)

taraengine is fully open source and runs entirely on your local machine. The engine does not collect, transmit, or store any data remotely. Specifically:

  • No telemetry: The engine does not phone home, check for updates or send usage data
  • No account required: You can use taraengine without any registration
  • 100% local: All model interactions happen on your machine; the only connections are the downloads you ask for, from Hugging Face and GitHub

1.2 Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be absolutely clear about what we do not collect:

  • Prompts or Conversations: We do not collect, store, or have access to the content of your prompts or the model's responses
  • Files or Images: We do not access or store what you send to a model
  • LLM Responses: All model interactions happen locally on your infrastructure
  • Usage Statistics: taraengine does not send any usage data to our servers

1.3 Website (engine.tara.vision)

When you visit the engine.tara.vision website, we may collect:

  • Server Logs: Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited)
  • Analytics: Anonymous, aggregated website usage statistics, collected by our own umami instance without cookies or personal data

2. How We Use Information

Any information collected via the website is used solely for:

  • Improving the documentation and website
  • Understanding how visitors find and use our resources
  • Ensuring website security and preventing abuse

3. Data Storage and Security

3.1 Local Data

taraengine stores all data locally on your machine, in its data directory. This includes the runtime, the models you pull and the state the engine keeps about them. You have complete control over this data.

3.2 Website Security

The engine.tara.vision website uses industry-standard security measures:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/HTTPS)
  • Regular security assessments
  • Secure hosting infrastructure

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. Since taraengine is open source and runs locally, there is no user data to share. Website analytics are anonymous and aggregated.

5. Third-Party Services

taraengine connects to two services, each only when you run the command that needs it:

  • Hugging Face: the model files a taraengine pull downloads; a token you configure is sent there only
  • GitHub: the pinned llama.cpp build a taraengine runtime install or update downloads

These connections are initiated by you. We have no visibility into them.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your data
  • Portability: Request transfer of your data
  • Objection: Object to certain processing activities

7. Data Retention

taraengine stores all data locally on your machine. You control retention:

  • Local Data: Delete a model with taraengine rm, or the data directory, at any time
  • Website Logs: Server logs are retained for 30 days for security purposes

8. Cookies and Tracking

The engine.tara.vision website sets no cookie of its own: it has no account, no form and no session to keep. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics that track individual users; our umami analytics on stats.tara.vision work without cookies.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16.

10. International Data Transfers

If you are accessing the Service from outside the European Union, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the EU where our servers are located.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
